Portfolios for Capital University
In 2015, at the age of 43, I set out to complete my bachelor’s degree. At the time I had been working for more than 15 years in all aspects of production both behind and in front of the camera: acting for stage and screen, and writing, directing and producing films and videos for narrative and commercial projects. But with all of the accomplishments and success I had there was still something missing.
So, with a full-time job as video producer for a global customer experience company, a supportive wife and a child in middle school, I set out to finish this part of my educational journey. At the time, a friend worked at Capital University and suggested the Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) program, mentioning that earned credit for work-life experience and training could also be a possibility. After my first meeting with Craig Sohl discussing the Adult Degree Completion program, I knew that Capital was the right place to be and started classes that Fall semester.
Together with my academic advisor, Dr. Janette E. McDonald, we crafted an IDS degree plan for me in the areas of Film and Journalism, and identified courses for which experiential learning could be applied.
This website serves to provide support material along with professional and personal endorsements for my skills in relation to the courses for which I am seeking experiential learning credit.
